The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 56

This week we find ourselves once again talking nice about Bernie Ecclestone - we don't know what's happened to us and we're highly concerned about it.

Before we get started - we got word this week that the inaugural Grand Prix of Boston has been cancelled.  There's lots of finger pointing and all we know is that it's somebody's fault.

Mercedes insists that there's no conspiracy in their garages - and Lewis says that he really trusts his mechanics.

Renault wants Red Bull back as a customer, and the new engine rules that were ratified have a "Red Bull clause" and a "Force India clause."

Finally, despite what Monisha Keltenborn told us in the run up to the Russian Grand Prix - things aren't looking better for Sauber.

The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 53

We're trying to figure out if it's April or December here, because the weather has been just that odd this year.  But we don't struggle with it for long because there's racing to talk about.

Before we get to Formula 1, IndyCar had it's second race of the season last weekend - a visit to the oval in Pheonix for the Diamond Desert West Valley Grand Prix - and racing on an oval wasn't nearly as dull as we expected.  There were some key difference between IndyCar and what we've come to expect from an F1 weekend, but one of the biggest surprises may have actually been NBCSN's quality coverage of the event - it was much better than what the offer for F1.

But there was a lot to talk about in F1 too - from the head of Imola visiting with Bernie to talk about hosting a Grand Prix again, to what is looking like a war of words between Bernie and the drivers.

Ferrari was investigated and cleared for sending illegal messages to Sebastian Vettel and they've also determined what caused Seb's engine to fail prior to the start of the race in Bahrain.

While we agree that things look promising for a return to the old format for qualifying - we've been burned twice already think that it's a done deal, and aren't quite ready to declare the "live elimination" system dead.

The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 52

We had a great show recorded for you this week - trust us, you would have loved it! Unfortunately there was a problem and we had to re-record it.  This episode it pretty good, but you'll never get to know what you missed out on.

Adjust your calendars - there's a time change for the European Grand Prix in Baku this year.

Bernie says that a price has been agreed to for the sale of CVC Capitol's share of Formula 1 Management.

Monisha Kaltenborn at Sauber wants us all to remember that in all the furor over qualifying and how F1 is managed - Sauber is still having money problems.

We find out just how much respect Bernie Ecclestone has for the drivers - the amount of disdain he has is pretty shocking.

And the Qualifying mess - not fixed...

The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 37

This is it, the last race weekend of the 2015 season, and going in to the weekend the important stuff has already been decided.

The F1 Commission has decided that Bernie and Jean's alternative engine proposal is a bad idea.

The race marshals have decided that Ferrari and Haas haven't violated the development restrictions.

Red Bull and Toro Rosso have decided on engines for 2016 - but apparently we're not allowed to know what the are...

And Ron Dennis has been talking but once again, do we really know what he means? For that matter, Fernando Alonso has been talking, and do we really know what he means?

The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 26

The big story coming out of Spa this year - tires.  We thought we were done talking about them, but between Williams' bizarre pitt lane error that resulted in Valteri Bottas driving on a mis-matched set of tires to Sebastian Vettel's post race comments, we can't ignore the tires this race.

Was Ferrari's tire strategy in Spa too aggressive, or was it something else?  Could the drivers' failure to obey the track limits be the issue?

The other big story - Lotus.  Romain Grosjean had a fantastic race, earning the team their best podium in a long time.  We think that the team has sorted out it's legal issues with Charles Pic, but everybody's been quiet on the matter, and it's looking more like Renault will be buying the team - and making things a lot more complicated in the process.

The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 5

It would be understandable if you mistook this year's season opener as the Revolution in Formula as opposed to the Tweak... With so few cars starting, and even fewer finishing, it's hard to believe that this year was the year that the rules were left mostly intact.

Teams are threatening to leave, a grand prix is off the calendar this year - but at least Geido and Sauber have come to an agreement...
