First Look! The Renault Sport R.S.17

Today's reveal - the Renault Sport R.S.17, and much like yesterday's Sauber we're seeing a very pronounced shark fin.

Renault was very quick to point out that the R.S.17 represents the first car purpose built for the F1 team and the Renault power unit since the manufacturer returned to F1 as a full constructor.  Also of note is that this year's Renault R.E.17 power unit is a completely new design that Renault along with customers Toro Rosso and Red Bull (with their engine badged as a Tag Heuer) hope will be a marked improvement over what Renault has produced since the start of the V6 Turbo Hybrid era.

Also notable - the team is targeting a 5 place finish overall this year.  While this would represent a marked improvement over last year's ninth place finish, rebuilding or not this is a pretty low target for a Works team, let alone a team with the pedigree that Renault has.

Finally, it doesn't seem like the team is interested in shaking off it's Team Banana nickname anytime soon...
